Dean S. Reynolds, OD, is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from Highland High School and attended the University of New Mexico. He graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1978. He practiced Optometry in Albuquerque from 1978 to 1987. He has practiced in Rio Rancho since 1987. Dr. Reynolds enjoys helping his patients to find the best solution for their visual needs. In particular, he likes to educate his patients about their eyes.

Dr. Reynolds is a member of the New Mexico Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Optometric Association. Dr. Reynolds provides thorough optometric care to his patients, including the fitting of all types of contact lenses, refractive surgery evaluation and co-management, and the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, fishing, and traveling.

Dr. Susan E. Ivey is a native of Albuquerque. She graduated from Sandia High School in 1970 and from the University of New Mexico in 1975 with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Biology. She taught Biology at Highland High School from 1975 until 1978. After moving to Forest Grove, Oregon she enrolled in the Pacific University College of Optometry in 1979, graduating in 1983 with a BA in Visual Science and her doctorate in Optometry. In 1984 she opened her optometric practice in Rio Rancho, later merging with her new husband Dr. Dean S. Reynolds, OD. They have practiced together in the same location since 1987.

Dr. Ivey enjoys meeting and talking with people to solve their vision problems. She enjoys working with people of all ages because "everyone has something they need or want to be able to see comfortably and I like helping people enjoy their work and hobbies." Reading and skiing (not at the same time!) along with spending time with her family are her favorite activities away from the office.

Mario J Andreatta is a southern Colorado native. He worked as a petroleum engineer for 10 years following his graduation from the Colorado School of Mines in 1979 before he went back to school to pursue optometry. Dr. Andreatta obtained his doctorate in Optometry from Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Oklahoma in 1994 and since then has acquired several years of diverse clinical optometric experience.

Dr. Andreatta worked as an Optometrist for Presbyterian Health Group in Rio Rancho for about 10 years and Eye Associates of New Mexico for over a year before moving to the Fort Defiance Indian hospital in Arizona where he worked for 2 years before joining us at City of Vision in 2008. Dr. Andreatta enjoys ranching and spending time with his family when he’s not meeting Rio Rancho’s eye care needs

Dr. Emily Nguyen was born in Saigon Viet Nam. Her family escaped from Viet Nam and came to America in 1981 where they were placed in a small Vietnamese community in Albuquerque. Her family stayed in New Mexico because of the 300+ days of sunshine a year and friendly New Mexicans.

Dr. Nguyen received her first pair of glasses during high school and it sparked her interest in becoming an optometrist. She graduated from Albuquerque High School, and attended the University of New Mexico. Nova South Eastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida was where Dr. Nguyen obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree. After graduation, she returned to New Mexico to be closer to family and friends. Her first optometrist, Dr. Frank Chinisci of Sandia Vision inspired her to be an optometrist through his kindness and competence. She strives to provide good eye care with the same compassion. When, not working, Dr. Nguyen likes gardening and traveling.

Carolyn S. Marquez, ABOC
Office Manager

Carolyn Marquez is a native of Cuba, New Mexico. She has been working in the optical field since 1985. She worked in several optometric offices in Albuquerque before coming to City of Vision Eyecare in 1990. Her broad experience allows her to do everything from performing visual field testing to teaching new contact lens wearers. She is also instrumental in producing complex inventory reports. She quickly rose to the position of Office Manager in 1994. She became a Board Certified Optician in 1999. Among other talents, Carolyn speaks fluent Spanish and can comfortably assist patients in their native language. Carolyn enjoys interacting with patients and staff at her job.

In her spare time, Carolyn enjoys her family life with her husband and 2 daughters. She likes living in New Mexico because her family is here.

Ronald H. Danner, ABOC
Optical Department Manager

After high school graduation, Ron Danner attended Fenn Business College in Cleveland, Ohio, taking classes in salesmanship, marketing and purchasing. He continued to work and to enhance his optical skills in Ohio for 25 years. During this period he was privileged to serve as president for the Cleveland Society of Ophthalmic Opticians.

Mr. Danner relocated to the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area in 1982. After managing several Benson Optical locations, he opened “Wizard of Eyes Optical” which he co-owned and managed. During this period he was a member of the Community Affairs Committee for the Rio Rancho Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member of the Kiwanis of Northern Albuquerque. He was also a member of the Tips Club and a board member for the Ronald McDonald House.

After 12 successful years, “Eye Associates of NM and Southern Colorado” purchased “Wizard of Eyes Optical.” Mr. Danner remained as the manager of the Eye Associates Optical Division for another 2 years. In January of 2000, he relocated to “City of Vision Eyecare” as our Optical Director. As a Board Certified Optician since 1957, he brings a great deal of experience to his new role. He takes great pleasure in working with patients and skillfully “trouble shooting” any eyeglass problems they may have.
